Undergraduate college level business students
After receiving my TESOL certificate in 2005 from TEFL International in France, I received 4 job offers within four months. I was re careering out of small business consulting and management upon early retirement from a California community college. I went to southern Poland as a “guest lecturer” for a year at one of the leading international business universities in Europe. There I taught students from around the world. My courses included ESL, “Effective Speaking” and business English. Additionally, I taught all levels of ESL --- from beginning to advanced --- at a private language school near the university on weekends. In my free time I was able to travel affordably to Krakow, Berlin, Prague and Vienna.
Adult ESL students in Boise from the immigrant and refugee .jpg) Upon returning to the States in 2006, I relocated to Boise, Idaho. I did volunteer ESL tutoring for the adult literacy program working with refugees and immigrants from all continents. This post led me to a part-time teaching position with Boise State University English Learning Center for adult education. My classes have included refugees and immigrants from all continents including some of the world's most war torn and oppressed countries such as Somalia, Myanmar, Burundi, Sudan - Darfur, Iraq and Afghanistan. Boise is one of this country's national relocation centers for refugees settling in the United States. So far, I have taught students from 25 different countries.
