Granada is situated between the Sierra Nevada Mountains and the Costa del Sol in the region of Andalusia. It is home to Spain’s most popular tourist attraction the magnificent Alhambra Palace and is the capital of Moorish Spain. The Moorish influence can easily be seen in the cities numerous palaces, churches, monuments and ancient houses.
Modern day Granada has the atmosphere of a large town rather than a small city and is a charming university town. It has a buzzing nightlife, many restaurants, cafes, bars, theatres and clubs. There is something for everyone in Granada whether it be skiing or trekking for the more energetic, or sunbathing on the white sandy beaches of the Costa del Sol.
Numerous places of interest surround Granada such as the ancient Roman ruins in Cordoba and the Mesquitta, a former catholic church which was transformed into a mosque in the fourteenth century. Visit Malaga, the birthplace of Picasso, or take a weekend excursion to Granada, birthplace of the Flamenco and the former colonial capital of Spain.
Such is the outstanding quality and taste of the diverse range of food in this region that we feel it is worth a special mention here. Gaspacio, Tapas, Chorizo and Paella can all be accompanied by any one of a number of local fine wines. All in all, Granada really is a superb location in which to take our TEFL course.
