The following information has been compiled by the staff at our Tuscany course centre.
How best to find an ESL job
 
The best way to find a job in Italy is for you to go around to the schools in person and drop off your CVs so that the schools can see you and see that you are actually living in the country at the time and that you are serious about finding TEFL work.  But, since this is not always possible, we also recommend top sites such as
               
Cultural considerations
 
Q: Are there any cultural factors I should take into consideration?
In Italy, rules are made to be bent.  Please don’t come to this country expecting the same kind of services that you might have in your own country.   But this is one of the things that makes this country a unique and exciting place to live!

Qualifications needed
 
Q: What qualifications are needed to find an ESL job in Thailand?
 
·         A TESOL certificate.
·         A university degree is desired but not always required.

Q: Are there any particular times of year it is better, or easier, to look for a teaching job?
Generally , schools will hire in September/October and January/February, but they also hire on an ongoing basis.  There are also job opportunities for summer camps which pay well.

Contract lengths
 
Q: What is the average contract length for a teaching job?
It is varied, but you should ready to commit for at least six months.

Average salary
 
Q: What is the average salary?
The average hourly rate is from 12 euro to 20 euro gross.  This largely depends on the city you are in.

Average teaching hours per week
 
Q: On average how many teaching hours would I work per week?
25-30

Housing
 
Q: Would I be expected to find my own housing, or would it be provided by the school?
Teachers are normally expected to find their own housing, but there are exceptions, especially in the South.
