Prague is a highly sought after destination in which to attend our TEFL courses as it affords our students the opportunity to study and live in a busy, historic city and to experience a local population steeped in culture. With a reputation as one of the most beautiful cities in the world, Prague features in the UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites. It features one of the largest ancient castles in the world and Charles Bridge – two of the most visited tourist sites in the city. With centuries of literary and creative culture it is not hard to see why this city has been dubbed ‘the mother of cities’ and ‘the golden city’.
The city consists of the Lesser Town, the Old Town and the New Town. The Lesser Town began life as a market and still houses many government buildings and restaurants. The Old Town is the heart of the city and dates back to the 10th century. It features a famous square housing a tourist information office and many Gothic style buildings of Romanesque origin. The Old Town was replaced by the New Town in 1348 which has grown to twice its original size and now features many restaurants, cafes, shops and art galleries.
