My True Experience of Life as an English Teacher

I took the TEFL International course in Phuket in 2003 and then worked at a Middle school in Thailand until March 2005. From April 2005 to April 2006 I taught at a language school near Bangkok, and then from Sept 2006 to July2008 at two universities near Shanghai in China. The TEFL International TESOL course got me off to a good start and allowed me to develop my teaching over the years.

I had never taught TEFL before and to be honest was very frightened by the thought of teaching. But the course enabled me to overcome my fears and build up some skills.

Since doing the course I have always been able to find a teaching job easily and have found it to be a rewarding career as well as enabling me to travel extensively throughout Asia.

I would highly recommend the course for anyone wanting to be a TEFL teacher and it's much more enjoyable to take it in Thailand than say London.

In Thailand it just seemed much more relaxed and stress free compared to some of the TEFL course stories that I have heard from London.

I would also highly recommend China as a place to work for any of your TEFL graduates. There are plenty of jobs there, they are not too stressful, and the students are friendly, helpful and very keen to learn English.
