The Disney English Program
Employing the Immersive Storytelling Approach, or I.S.A., the curriculum utilized in each Disney English language learning center relies on the use of stories, songs, and visual aids incorporating beloved Disney Characters in order to cultivate a dynamic classroom environment and make learning English a fun and exciting experience. Lessons are specifically designed to engage students by making use of the Multiple Intelligences Theory, allowing each student to learn and improve their English-speaking skills by using their individual strengths and aptitudes.
To provide you with further details in terms of what program participants are responsible for, and to help paint a better picture of what it will be like to be a part of the Disney English team, see below:
- The curriculum used at all Disney English language centers has been fully developed by Disney’s Content & Curriculum team in cooperation with an advisory panel of 19 international educators and early childhood experts.
- Because all students learn differently, the Multiple Intelligences Theory is incorporated into the curriculum.
- Lessons are high energy and utilize stories, songs, games, group activities, and the incorporation of Disney characters to make learning English a fun experience for students.
- The student population consists of children from 2 to 12 years of age, with 80% of learners being between the ages of 4 and 6.
- Classroom lessons are built around an interactive whiteboard and large projection wall.
- Learners are grouped by both skill level and age.
- All trainers work 40 hours per week, with a maximum of 24 teaching hours per week.
- All academic staff members are expected to work on Saturday and Sunday, typically working up to 20 hours during weekends.
- Rather than the traditional weekend, trainers receive 2 consecutive days off every week, usually Tuesday and Wednesday or Wednesday and Thursday.
- The presence of a Chinese Assistant Trainer in the classroom will depend more or less upon the age and skill level of your students.
