Home / Location / Japan / Tokyo
Tokyo is a vast and culturally fascinating city combining a fast paced business driven economy with areas of peace and calm. Beyond the city lies a world of quiet streets, wooden houses, temples and shrines. Local shrines are often visited on a daily basis by the inhabitants of this city as the people still maintain strong spiritual beliefs.
Some of the most amazing features about this wonderful city are that there is very little crime, the streets are clean and the trains, buses and metro system all actually run on time. Many of the smaller supermarkets stay open 24 hours, seven days a week. The people are open and friendly and usually fashion conscious. The food is delicious and the nightlife is vibrant.
In short, the difference between the Japanese and Western cultures is so vast that it is impossible to become bored in Tokyo.
To the outsider, Tokyo may seem to be an expensive city. While the real estate market and high salaries bear this out, everyday living in Tokyo can be fairly inexpensive. For example, meals for between USD$4 and USD$6 can be bought from noodle houses or izakaya bars and entertainment is also relatively inexpensive.
If one looks at Tokyo and Japan in general it is easy to see why it is a popular choice in which to study your TEFL course. The fascinatingly different culture and the people alone make it worth your while so come and join ITTT in Japan and enjoy the experience of a lifetime.
