Thanks to its warm climate and wide range of attractions, Barcelona is one of the most popular destinations in Europe for both tourists and TEFL course trainees alike. The capital of Catalonia is Spain's second largest city, although its relatively compact size and laid-back atmosphere make getting around both comfortable and enjoyable. Via the city's excellent public transport network you can visit all of the main points of interest including several great beaches, one of which was named the number one city beach in the world by the National Geographic. Another must-see attraction is the Sagrada Familia, the extraordinary unfinished masterpiece by the architect Antoni Gaudi that has become one of the most iconic buildings in the world.
The city has plenty of things to see and do during the daylight hours, however, after dark is when Barcelona really comes alive. Centered on the lively La Rambla area, the city's nightlife is as varied and exciting as any in Europe. One of the most popular ways to spend the evening is to tour the countless tapas bars that offer up a mouthwatering variety of delicacies that can be washed down with your beverage of choice. For many course graduates the experience of completing their TEFL training in Barcelona leads to full time employment in one of the many language schools in the city. However, our extensive knowledge of the worldwide TEFL industry will ensure your career takes off wherever you choose to be.
If you choose our Barcelona training center you will complete your TEFL certification in a modern facility situated close to the vibrant center of the city. Thanks to this great location you will have easy access to multiple bus routes and metro lines that provide links to all the main tourist and entertainment sites, at any time of the day or night. Unfortunately your stay is not all about the free time, though when you are in the classroom you will have access to all the modern equipment and teaching resources you could wish for. The center also has large and airy classrooms that provide a great atmosphere for language teaching, as well as plenty of computers and other resources for planning your practice lessons.
Our Barcelona center also offers our combined TEFL course option that only requires you to attend the center for two weeks rather than four. This option is great for anyone who is unable to commit to a full month away but would still like the benefit of genuine teaching practice before they start working in their own classroom. Please see our combined TEFL course page for more details.Apply Now!
Not only is the magnificent city of Barcelona the most visited city in Spain, it is actually the third most popular tourist destination in the whole of Europe. This distinction means there is a wide variety of accommodation to choose from, although during the summer months cost and availability can be an issue. You are obviously free to stay in any hotel, guest house, hostel or apartment you choose, however, we are more than happy to arrange your stay in our recommended accommodation if you would prefer.
Our recommended accommodation consists of a private bedroom within an apartment shared with other course members or with a local resident. The apartments are situated within a short journey of the training center and within easy reach of local amenities such as shops, bars and restaurants. The city's reliable and affordable public transport network also ensures you are never far from any of the main attractions within the city and beyond. All our apartments are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis so we recommend you make your booking as early as possible.Apply Now!

What is the course schedule?Expand
From Monday to Friday, there are input sessions every morning from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. when trainees learn classroom management, grammar, language and culture and other practical aspects of the course. Lunch is from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. From 1:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. trainees prepare their lessons with the assistance of the instructors and then from either 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. or 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. they teach their lessons to Spanish students. These lessons are followed by immediate feedback from the instructors. You will not be teaching every afternoon, we aim to provide six to eight hours of observed teaching practice over the 4-week course. These lessons are taught from Monday to Thursday. On Friday, trainees are free after 12:30 p.m. and the weekend is also free. You are, however, encouraged to take your books with you to the beach so you can study over the weekend! In addition to these hours, there is also time that must be spent preparing materials and completing various assignments.
What can I expect during teaching practice?Expand
We use local Spanish students for the trainees’ teaching practice. Spanish students are very keen and enthusiastic and classes are usually a very positive experience.
Who usually attends the course?Expand
On average we have around ten to fifteen trainees enrolled on each course, although this does vary throughout the year. Most of the participants are American, British, Canadian or Australian, although we do accept non-native speakers of English who have a high proficiency in the language.

During trainees’ lessons, casual attire is allowed. During teaching practice, you will need to dress in trousers/skirts and closed-toe shoes. Men need collared shirts, while women need to wear conservative tops that will cover their shoulders. Men also need to shave or keep facial hair neatly trimmed. No visible tattoos or facial piercings are allowed while teaching local students.
What should I bring for course studies?Expand
Please be sure to arrive on the first day of the course with a notebook and a pen. We also encourage you to bring a laptop as we have Wi-Fi at the training center. We will provide all course materials for you so there is no need to bring anything else for the course itself.
